Wuthering High: A Bard Academy Novel (Bard Academy, the)
Read 2/16/07 After crashing her dad's BMW and running up a $1000 credit card bill, 15 year old Miranda is sent to Bard Academy, a reform school on an island in Maine where the eccentric teachers are known only by their last initial. But the strict rules and bad food aren't the only unusual traits of this school. Miranda is convinced she's being haunted by the ghost of Kate Shaw, a student who lived in her room and disappeared in 1990. What Miranda soon uncovers is that the school has some serious ties to classic fiction, and the teachers are some familiar names from literature. Filled with an insane amount of pop culture references (some outdated only 6 months after publication - Everwood, pre-Federline Britney, the now defunct (? or maybe not...) Teen Vogue) this book may lose its appeal in the next three years, but it's still a fast and fun read, especially for high schoolers who have had to slog through the classics and recognize the references
