7 Days at the Hot Corner

7 Days at the Hot Corner
Read 5/11/07 Ages 13+ (theme, two instances of mature language) After learning that his best friend Travis is gay, varsity baseball player Scott decides to get an AIDS test. As he waits for the results, he grapples with his own homophobia and rides the high of his team's record winning streak. Scott's initial narrow viewpoint of homosexuality and HIV/AIDS almost seems outdated, especially when compared to the worlds presented by authors David Levithan and Julie Anne Peters, but it is still one that many teens (especially high school jocks) may experience and identify with. Not too in depth, but this slim book will be good for a reluctant reader.
